Mexican embassy presents books to National Library
KUWAIT: The Embassy of Mexico in Kuwait gave Mexican books to the National Library of Kuwait yesterday. The handover is part of the library’s Mexican cultural week, and includes a display of cultural and literary publications and a photo exhibition. Kamel Al-Abduljalil, General Manager of the library, said the Mexican cultural week is held from Oct 21 to 25, including an exhibition of the 256 donated Mexican books. The library will receive more Mexican books soon, whose total will reach 1,000, along with 20 documentaries about Mexico.
“We are pleased to cooperate with the Embassy of Mexico, which will sign a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the Mexican Ministry of Culture and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature in Kuwait in the field of libraries and information,” Abduljalil said. “We will continue to cooperate with embassies and diplomats to strengthen the mission of the National Library in educating and enlightening the community and informing it about the cultures of the world and enabling it to know the human tenderness of thought, science and culture,” Abduljalil said.
Mexican Ambassador to Kuwait Miguel Angel Isidro thanked the Kuwait National Library for promoting the culture of Mexico. “Many of our generations are confused that they can learn about the culture and history of the country from the Internet, but books have the real full history,” he said. The ambassador added that the embassy and the library will continue to cooperate to provide the right information to the younger generations, noting that Mexican week will include two lectures on the impact of Arab culture in Latin America and on tourism in Mexico
“We will also present an exhibition of photographic images and a variety of documentary films from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Mexico in the library,” Isidro said. He referred to the great synergy between Arab and Mexican cultures and the importance of the role of the Arab community in the development and prosperity of Mexico.
