KUWAIT: Ooredoo sponsored the youth Initiative Award for the third consecutive year. The award recognizes volunteer and humanitarian efforts by youth in the Arab region. The event took place the JW Marriot Hotel and was organized in partnership with the Arab Media Forum. More than 300 projects from the Arab world participated in the event, which is judged by a panel that includes a number of leaders in philanthropy in the region. Around 60 projects from abroad were invited to Kuwait to showcase their projects. The sponsorship of this event comes in tandem with Ooredoo’s core values of caring, connecting and challenging.

The idea of establishing the forum is inspired by youthled movements in different fields. The forum is concerned with evaluating non-profit youth initiatives in multiple fields. It works to give young people the incentive for further progress and creativity. The event was organized by the Arab Media Forum, led by Madhi Al-Khamis and had representatives from the Arab League, the Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences, the Arab Planning Institute, Ministry of Information, Ministry of State for Youth Affairs, the General Authority for Youth and Kuwait Media and Communication Society.

Speaking at the event, Ooredoo Kuwait’s Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani stated that Ooredoo’s sponsorship comes to reiterate the company’s commitment to supporting youth in a variety of fields to enrich their experience, especially volunteerism which is a field the Ooredoo adopted ever since the inception of the volunteer program nearly five years ago.

Al Thani explained that Ooredoo’s support for youth is two-fold: through its products and services, and through its corporate social responsibility initiatives. On the level of social responsibility, Al Thani said that Ooredoo Kuwait is proud to be a pioneer in the field of volunteerism. “We at Ooredoo support the enthusiasm of young people and their passion for volunteering and work in many other fields. We are sure that they can give and we will continue to support young people in different sectors and areas through our social responsibility strategy because we believe that the future of the nation is in the hands of the youth.”

The award aims to support the youth with their projects and works on creating a competitive atmosphere among young people to push them to work harder. Supporting youth is among Ooredoo’s top priorities through its CSR strategy. The company signed a memorandum
