3-year trans­fer ban mulled

KUWAIT: The man­power au­thor­ity is con­sid­er­ing is­su­ing a de­ci­sion ban­ning visa trans­fers to other em­ploy­ers for ex­pats hired from out­side the coun­try to work in the pri­vate sec­tor be­fore three years from the is­suance of the first work per­mit have elapsed. In­formed sources added that this rule has been in ef­fect for many years con­cern­ing small and medium project com­pa­nies and will greatly help fight visa traf­fick­ing. The sources stressed that the cur­rent reg­u­la­tions al­low­ing visa trans­fers af­ter one year from en­try or six months plus a KD 300 fee will be fol­lowed un­til the new de­ci­sion is fi­nal­ized, adding that a new pack­age of res­o­lu­tions will be an­nounced soon to reg­u­late the lo­cal la­bor mar­ket and limit mar­ginal la­bor.
