Delays increased new university project’s budget from KD 475 million to KD 2.95 billion
‘Citizens lost faith in government’s seriousness in building the new academic city’
KUWAIT: A State Audit Bureau report about Sabah Al-Salem University City (Kuwait University - AlShadadiya) tracked some lenience in determining the basic requirements for the campus colleges, and bad primary assessment that resulted in many modifications and changes made in the project. The report also stressed that as a result of the delays, college buildings were not launched on time, the free maintenance period of those buildings expired while citizens lost faith in the government’s seriousness in building the new academic city. The report explained that the delay also led to increasing the project’s budget from KD 475 million, when the project was approved in 2004, to KD 1.6 billion in 2010, then KD 2.95 billion in 2018.
Remote areas
Well-informed sources at the Civil Service Commission (CSC) said decision number 18/2012 pertaining with incentives for employees working in remote areas added Sabah Al-Ahmed City, Subbiya Palace and Shuaiba industrial zone to those areas, noting that the allowance will be KD 90 monthly for employees in ranks 1-4 and KD 75 for those in ranks 5-8.
Landmines
The Municipal Council is scheduled to meet tomorrow to review Public Works Minister Hosam Al-Roumi’s approval of the previous meeting’s minutes and a proposal made by member Humoud Al-Enezi to discuss the landmines recently exposed by heavy rain.
Charges dropped
The public prosecutor Dherar Al-Assoussi ordered shelving a state security report made against a bedoon (stateless) young man, and which accuses him of threatening to murder the director of the central apparatus for illegal residents Saleh Al-Fadhalah. The prosecutor ordered that all charges against the accused Mohammad Al-Enezi be dropped.
Trademarks’ registrations
Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled AlRoudhan issued a ministerial decision on publishing various trademarks through the International Organizations and Foreign Commerce link on the ministry’s website. Roudhan’s resolution number 687/2018 further stipulates publishing trademarks’ registration, modification, change, cancellation or renewal at the following link: www.ifta.gov.kw. The link is available on the ministry’s website, and will be launched on December 16.
