Economic researcher awards

KUWAIT: The Central Bank of Kuwait launched the ‘economic researcher’ award for Kuwaiti researchers and the ‘economic student’ prize for college and higher education students. Individuals who wish to join the competition can find the details and apply on www.kibs.edu.kw website from 9 December to 31 January, Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and Chairman of the Institute of Banking Studies, Mohammad AlHashel, said in a press statement yesterday. The award aims to develop research skills for Kuwaitis and encourage them to use scientific methods in dealing with banking and economic topics. The success of the economic researcher award in its first session encouraged officials to allow students to engage in a similar award. It can boost their skills and qualify them to work in the banking field in the future, he noted. Winner of the first award will receive KD 10,000 (about $32.8 thousand), while the student award winner will receive KD 5,000 about $16.4 thousand), Hashel said. The winning research will be printed out and published so that people in the field can benefit from, he added.
