Al Thani: Historical achievement for Kuwait and the telecommunications sector
KUWAIT: Just a few days after announcing the introduction of the eSIM for the first time in Kuwait and exclusively on the new Apple Watch-Series4 GPS + Cellular, Ooredoo Kuwait has announced a remarkable success and proudly presented Kuwait with an unprecedented achievement. Kuwait is now listed amongst 23 countries from around the world to have been granted the right to launch the new Apple Watch with eSIM exclusively through Ooredoo in Kuwait. The company also recorded another milestone as it offers this exclusive service with another operator in the Gulf. This achievement adds to the country’s ongoing strategic plan towards ‘New Kuwait-2035’ which focuses on the digital transformation across all sectors.
Commenting on the achievement, Chief Executive Officer at Ooredoo Kuwait Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani said “We are very proud to see, all plans and the efforts, done by everyone in the company, which eventually resulted in great success. This is genuinely presented from Ooredoo to Kuwait and to all our customers. We are also delightful that we have been chosen by Apple to have this exclusive privilege, and is a historic achievement for Kuwait and to the telecommunications sector in Kuwait”.

There was a big turnout in our branches and on eShop since Friday last week. Customers are keen to acquire the new Watch and benefit from activating the eSIM service exclusively on Ooredoo network”

We have been the pioneers in launching the eSIM technology since September of this year and eventually launching it successfully last October to all our customers. The new Apple Watch has been launched exclusively with eSIM from Ooredoo in a number of branches since last Friday. Customers can activate the service on the new watch using the same number and receiving calls and text messages too. This service works on all versions of iPhone 6 and later on iOS.12.1.1, and is also available to prepaid & postpaid subscribers. eSIM is available free of charge for customers for the first 6 months.
