Dasman Diabetes Institute, Sanofi host workshop

- KUWAIT:

Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI), in collaboration with Sanofi, is hosting a two-day training workshop titled ‘Fundamentals of Clinical Research and Good Clinical Practice’ in the Courtyard Marriott. This workshop will be delivered by the Brookwood International Academy on February 18-19, 2019.

Brookwood International Academy of Healthcare Research aims to provide excellence in clinical-based research and good clinical practice (GCP). By developing a workshop centered around clinical research and clinical trials, participants will learn how to setup clinical trials and the importance of understanding and complying with GCP during this process.

This course is for healthcare professionals working in the Ministry of Health, who care to improve research quality and patient outcomes. It involves interactive presentations and exercises and qualifies participants for the optional examination for the Certificate in Clinical Research and GCP. GCP is a pre-requisite to conducting any clinical trial. DDI and Sanofi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last year, with the first cooperation being the World Diabetes Day in November 16, 2018. The MoU provides for continued strengthening of future collaborations between the Sanofi and DDI in achieving common goals, fostering education, and encouraging innovative research. “Such courses targeting any healthcare professional are fundamental for good clinical practice. We look forward to future collaborations and advanced courses to improve clinical research practices,” said Dr Ebaa Al-Ozairi, Chief Medical Officer at Dasman Diabetes Institute.

“At Sanofi, we are pleased to partner with Dasman Diabetes Institute to further our commitment towards improving patient lives and contributing to the growth of healthy societies. Through this workshop, we aim to empower the scientific community in Kuwait by equipping them with the highest standards of skills and expertise in clinical research. Our endeavor is to advance and encourage scientific thinking, which can drive the best results for maximum patient benefit,” said Jean-Paul Scheuer, Country Chair and General Manager for Sanofi Gulf.
