Ooredoo concludes its fifth annual football tournament
Ooredoo Kuwait concluded the fifth edition of its annual football tournament “The Ooredoo Cup 2019”, which was held at Dasman Bilingual School in Sharq in coordination with ‘Li3ib’ platform for reserving and organizing sports activities. This is the fifth year in a row where Ooreodo holds this event which aims to further engage with employees from different departments and divisions.
The event aims to gather employees in a casual friendly atmosphere, outside of the office premises and working hours. This comes in alignment with Ooredoo’s core values of caring, connecting and challenging, and the company’s philosophy of investing in its employees who are the cornerstone of the establishment. The winner of the trophy this year was Ooredoo’s CEO Team, which scored four goals and defended all attacks against their goal by the opposing Customer Care Team, ending a high-octane final game with a four goal victory.
The tournament included 12 teams from the company’s different departments, with players from across the organization including the company’s CEO Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, in addition to heads of other departments and units, FASTtelco and Phono, as well as the security officers in the building. During the halftime breaks throughout the tournament and during the final game, Ooredoo held raffle draws for the audience, giving away prizes such as devices, accessories and gaming consoles from Apple, Huawei, Xbox, Copthorne Hotel, and JW Marriot. Costa Coffee were also present during the final ceremony. The final ceremony included special awards for specific categories which included Best Player, Best goalkeeper, Fair Play, Best Player and Top Scorer.
Commenting on this event, Ooredoo’s Corporate Communications Senior Director Mijbil Alayoub said: “We’re happy to organize this event for the fifth consecutive year here in Ooredoo. The tournament aims to fortify the brotherly relationship between Ooredoo staff across the organization, and is an embodiment of our core values of caring and connecting.” He added that the tournament is a great opportunity for employees to interact with the company’s upper management in a friendly setting, and a chance for employees to enjoy a sociable atmosphere with their families. The event comes as part of Ooredoo’s year-long plan of internal activities, aiming to engage employees and entertain them.
