Premier cables Egyptian counterpart, voicing sorrow for terrorist attack casualties
KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace yesterday. His Highness also received His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber AlMubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
In other news, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah addressed a cable to his Egyptian counterpart Dr Mustafa Madbouli, expressing condolences on deaths inflicted in the terrorist incident that happened opposite the National Cancer Institute in the Egyptian capital. His Highness the Prime Minister strongly condemned the blatant, criminal act that claimed lives of innocent people; an act that is rejected by all heavenly tenets and humanitarian values. His Highness affirmed the State of Kuwait’s unwavering stance in rejecting all forms of terrorism, standing alongside the sisterly Republic of Egypt. He also expressed support for all measures that may be taken by the Egyptian authorities to face such terrorist acts. He prayed that His Almighty Allah may bestow His mercy upon the souls of the deceased and wished the injured quick recuperation.
Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq AlGhanem also commiserated with his Egyptian counterparts the loss of life and injuries in the “terror” attack outside central Cairo’s National Cancer Institute. This came in a cable addressed to Egypt’s Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal, in which the Kuwaiti parliament chief fiercely condemned the act, which targeted the innocent. Ghanem expressed his total solidarity with the Egyptian people and his full support of measures taken by authorities to ensure the country’s safety and stability.
Kuwait strongly condemns Sunday’s terrorist blast which left dozens of casualties near the National Cancer Institute in Al-Qasr Al-Aini district in Cairo, said an official source in the Foreign Ministry. The official source reiterated Kuwait’s principled and firm rejection of terrorism and violence, as well as solidarity with Egypt in its measures to counter terrorism and establishing security and stability. The source urged the international community to double its efforts to bring an end to this dangerous phenomenon. The source expressed condolences to the victims’ families and wished quick recovery for the injured.
In the meantime, GCC Secretary General Dr Abdullatif Al-Zayani strongly condemned the terrorist blast that happened opposite the National Cancer Institute in the Egyptian capital. In a press release, Zayani described the deadly explosion a brutal act against all human principles and ethics, adding that he has high hopes for the Egyptian security officials to capture perpetrators. Zayani denounced the heinous act and stressed the vital role of international community to fight against terrorism. GCC chief offered his condolences to the Egyptian government and victims’ families and wished the injured speedy recovery. At least 20 people were killed and 47 others injured in the explosion outside Egypt’s National Cancer Institute in central Cairo.
