Border crossing to boost trade with Kuwait: Iraqi minister

BAGHDAD: Iraqi Trade Minister Mohammed Al-Ani said on Monday that the development and rehabilitation of the joint Safwan-Al-Abdali border crossing would contribute to increasing trade between Iraq and Kuwait. This came during a meeting involving the minister and other Iraqi officials, including Interior Minister Yassin Al-Yasiri and the Governor of Basra, read a ministry statement. The minister urged that the project be completed with haste due to the job opportunities the port would provide the Basra community. Recently, Trade Minister Al-Ani met with his Kuwaiti counterpart Khaled AlRoudhan at the border to agree the development of trade relations the preparation of a comprehensive plan for the port’s construction.
