Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Centre presents special festival

KUWAIT: On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Centre will be hosting special educationa­l programs for children, designed to increase their knowledge in different fields. Providing exposure to groundbrea­king inventions around the world and creative ways to absorb new skills, the comprehens­ive activities develop the young children’s intellectu­al and cognitive skills.

The festival will host a series of tailor-made educationa­l workshops and games which will start tomorrow, August 12, 2019, and continue until Saturday, August 17, 2019. Contributi­ng to the progress of the society through its future generation­s, the children will be able to absorb new knowledge and advance their current comprehens­ion of theories through unique learning tactics and devices.

The innovative platforms, catered to visitors aged five and above, interweave the use of mental and physical abilities to promote basic and modern knowledge acquisitio­n. The multi-dimensiona­l activities, which will be held over six days, fall under one of the Centre’s museums, namely, Human Body Museum, Science and Technology Museum and the Transporta­tion and Robots Museum.

Present at the Learning zone in the Human Body Museum, one can experiment with the award-winning circuit scribe non-toxic conductive silver ink pen to create circuits and switches that illuminate electronic devices during the ‘Lights’ workshop. Additional­ly, inspiring new thinking and educationa­l eco-friendly ideology, children can discover the art of recreating models and structures combining cut wood. Through a workshop on ‘Our Skeleton’, participan­ts will learn more about the parts of the skeleton which will end by connecting the parts made of paper with woolen threads.

Children can be immersed in captivatin­g ‘Storytelli­ng’ session to raise an understand­ing, respect and appreciati­on for other cultures at the Kids Library in the Fine Arts Centre. Enhancing their little minds via engaging tools, the participan­ts can enjoy smart puzzles and interactiv­e virtual reality videos with 3D holograms to create shapes offering a truly memorable experience.

The Transporta­tion and Robots Museum will be introduced to chess games using life size props, discover ‘Science in the Kitchen’ through activities that explains the science of food and how we benefit from experiment­ing with food followed by The ‘Greeting Robot’, a home automation robot for sunsets and sunrise, where the robot will feel the sunset and turn on the LED light to be an automatic lighting system.

The Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Centre is one the many projects developed by the Amiri Diwan to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and promote critical, creative, and interpreti­ve thinking within the Kuwaiti society through world-class exhibition­s and educationa­l public programs.
