Forensic examination needs time
KUWAIT: Examination of human remains Kuwait received from Iraq purportedly belonging to citizens who had gone missing or held as prisoners of war needs both time and effort, an official said yesterday. Interior Ministry’s Acting Undersecretary Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah’s remarks came during his visit to the ministry’s forensic laboratory, where he got a close-up view of the DNA analysis used to identify the remains. Iraqi authorities last week handed over to Kuwait the remains of 48 Kuwaitis, who went missing after Iraq’s invasion of its neighbor and the subsequent Gulf War 29 years ago.
