KUWAIT: National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali AlGhanem announced yesterday that he had obtained approval of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to open the next parliament­ary session on October 29. The parliament speaker, in a statement to reporters at Abdullah Al-Salem

Hall inside the National Assembly’s building, affirmed that His Highness the Amir is well by Allah’s will “and he is in the best condition as you have seen him.”

“His Highness the Amir has asked me to relay his greetings to all Kuwaiti citizens and I have informed him about the Kuwaiti people greetings prayers (for him),” he added. All people “around His Highness have urged him to abstain from cutting short his vacation because he needs more rest,” the parliament speaker said, adding that he would return home after recuperati­on, “safe and well by Allah’s will.” His Highness the Amir, who hosted Ghanem at his residence in the United States of America on Friday, had asked the speaker to convey his greetings to all citizens in Kuwait.

In other news, Ghanem departed to Kazakhstan yesterday heading a parliament­ary delegation to partake in the fourth meeting of the Speakers of Euro-Asian Countries’ Parliament­s, held from September 23-24. Ghanem is scheduled to address the Kuwaiti delegation to the meeting entitled, ‘Greater Eurasia: Dialogue. Trust. Partnershi­p,’ Al-Dustour News Network reported. Ghanem was seen off at the airport by Deputy National Assembly Speaker Essa Al-Kandari, Minister of Justice, Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Fahad Al-Afasi, National Assembly Secretary-General Alam Al-Kandari and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Kuwait Daulet Yemberdiev. Ghanem is accompanie­d by MP Rakan AlNisf, Treasurer MP Mohammad Al-Dalal, MP AlHumaidi Al-Subaie, MP Safa Al-Hashem, MP Mubarak Al-Hurais and MP Farraj Al-Arbeed.
