BFGoodrich tips for the off-road driving season, brought by KAICO

Off-road driving can be fun, especially when it’s intentional. To derive maximum pleasure and safety from Off-Roading, we recommend that the user understands some basic tips and techniques. Here are some tips for different Off-Road surfaces:

Safety checks

1. Check tyre pressure and condition

2. Wear your seatbelt

3. Ensure correct recovery practices and stay clear of winches, tow straps or any recovery equipment used on the trail. These may break and can cause severe injury.

4. Never stand or let anyone stand in your vehicle

5. Soft-top vehicles must have a roll bar - this is imperative for your safety in the event that your vehicle flips.

6. Never travel alone - if you must go solo, let someone know where you’ll be.

On sand

1. Deflate your tires to increase the footprint, it is recommended not to deflate below 15 Psi and ensure to re-inflate the tires to a safe pressure when returning to the road.

2. Be gentle with steering and braking inputs when tyres are deflated to avoid unseating tyre from wheel rim.

3. Use steady momentum all the way through.

4. In sand, if your wheels start to spin, ease off the gas a little to let the tires slow down and regain traction.
