The four-day Palestinian Cultural Heritage Expo kicked off yesterday at Kuwait Women’s Association in Khaldiya. The expo which displays cultural heritage and products is one way of its relentless effort to preserve their cultural identity in the face of daily threats. Rami Tahboub inaugurated the event along with the head of and members of diplomatic corps. Speaking with the Kuwait Times after touring the expo venue, Tahboub said he is happy to inaugurate the Palestinian Cultural Heritage Expo as they celebrate the silver jubilee this year.
“Today we are celebrating the silver jubilee of Palestinian Cultural Heritage Expo in Kuwait. The expo has symbolic touches of Palestinian heritage and it reflects the Palestinians and Kuwaiti relations which supported the exhibition for many years,” he said. The expo will last until Thursday and it’s open to public from morning till evening. They can purchase art products, books, embroideries and food. A cultural show is also set to close the event scheduled on Thursday at 6 pm.
With regards to their bilateral relations, Tahboub described it as being outstanding. “Our relation with Kuwait is really outstanding on all levels particularly in all the areas of cooperation. I particularly laud Kuwait for their great attitude towards the Palestinian people, for being supportive and appreciative in all our causes,” he said. “Our relations have taken shape significantly for the better day after day; just recently Kuwait appointed a non-resident ambassador to Palestine and it sends us a very good signal from Kuwait that we are still their high priority.”
In fact, they indicated to hire more Palestinian teachers to work in government schools in the coming years. Right now we have more than 500 Palestinian teachers. Historically our hardworking and trustworthy teachers have been here since 1936 when teachers were hired to establish its school system. We are honored to have this as our invaluable contribution to Kuwait and its people,” he added.
