Kuwait envoy commends students’ participat­ion in Huawei competitio­n

SHENZHEN: Kuwaiti Ambassador to China Sameeh Hayat commended yesterday the participat­ion of three Kuwaiti students in the two-day Huawei ICT competitio­n for the Middle East, which began yesterday in Shenzhen, China. Ambassador Hayat said in a press statement that the students were carrying out the directives of Kuwait’s top authoritie­s to develop and progress their country. His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah always made it a priority to support and develop the skills of the country’s youth in order to benefit society, affirmed the Ambassador who praised students Gaith Al-Gaith, Saad Al-Shimmari, and Mariam Al-Qallaf for their outstandin­g efforts in reaching the final of the competitio­n. Some 21,000 students from 10 Middle Eastern countries took part in the initial phases of the contest. There are now 39 students left in the final stage after 500 of their colleagues took part in the semifinals. The Shenzhen-based Huawei was establishe­d in 1986 and it is now one of the biggest brands within the telecommun­ication and smart phone-manufactur­ing domain.
