LAPA’s new board members
Fareah Al Saqqaf, LOYAC board’s chairperson and LAPA’s Managing Director, stated that LOYAC’s Board of Directors has recently adopted her recommendation to include artist Amira Behbehani and Dr Khalifa Al-Hajri as LAPA executive board members as a token of appreciation for their valuable contributions and services in developing LAPA’s work.
Al-Saqqaf also expressed her sincere happiness to the news saying: “Lately, LAPA has greatly grown and expanded to an extent in which artist Amira Behbehani and Dr Khalifa Al Hajri had played major roles, precisely in the past two years.”
Al Saqqaf added: “Here, in LOYAC, we are very selective when choosing our top-level managers, in order to maintain the development of our institutions, especially since we take upon ourselves the responsibility of contributing to advancing the cultural and artistic activities in the country, on the one hand, and accumulating positive change in the field of human resources development and promoting human awareness to the need for community services, on the other hand. This national humane responsibility requires very careful search before selecting our staff members from individuals who strongly believe in our vision and are willing to help us efficiently construct our institutions, because creativity and experience on the one hand, and awareness of societal and human responsibility on the other hand, is a difficult equation that is not readily available.”
Al-Saqqaf also noted that: “Amira Behbehani is a creative renowned artist, who has a rich and lengthy experience in volunteering. She is also an active contributor to empowering women, as well as, spreading peace. The relationship between LOYAC and Behbehani goes back to 2013, when she participated in various voluntary programs with us, after which she voluntarily and officially established LAPA’s Fine-Arts Department in 2016. We consider artist Amira Behbehani a great addition to LAPA.”
In addition, Al Saqqaf emphasized that: “Dr Khalifa Al Hajri needs no introduction, for he is a very wellknown academic figure in the Arab World. His status as a Scenographer is tremendous. He has profound cultural sense and a human depth that goes way beyond his academic knowledge. Dr Al Hajri is also known for his theatrical knowledge and his ability to evaluate and criticize theatrical works.”
Al Saqqaf concluded that artist Amira Behbehani and Dr Khalifa Al Hajri are a great addition to LAPA’s executive members, which would surely result in a qualitative leap for the Academy towards its achieving its ambitious future plans. She added that the coming years would witness enormous quality services for children and youth, contributing to enhancing the importance of art in raising fully aware and confident generations and, ultimately, in the cultural development of Kuwait.
