UN office in Kuwait partakes in celebrations
KUWAIT: The United Nations Office in Kuwait in collaboration with the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village hosted on Saturday a ceremony marking the 59th National Day and the 29th Liberation Day anniversaries. The ceremony was hosted in UN Office Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad building, and was attending by huge crowds of foreign and Arab diplomats. The General Director of the village, Advisor at the Amiri Diwan Mohammad Dhaifallah Sharar, told reporters that the village’s participation comes to embody the distinguished relations between the State of Kuwait and the United Nations. Sharar added that this celebration was an exceptional UN initiative in recognition of Kuwait’s role in supporting UN efforts to establish world peace, noting that the village’s participation in the UN function came upon directives from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Meanwhile, the village director Saif Al-Shalahi said in a similar statement that the village’s participation came to offer the diplomatic and international community a cultural and heritage view of the country, through setting up a heritage exhibition that is a gift from the village’s employees to the United Nations. Shalahi said that the exhibition representing the life of the people of the desert in the past, which includes art of Sadu, which is one of the traditional Bedouin weaving. Many old handicrafts were also shown, and a hobby of falconry was presented, while a presentation of some Kuwaiti folk cuisine and ancient Rababa art were also featured.
