Kuwaiti Foreign Minister receives NUKS chief

KUWAIT: Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah received on Sunday the Head the National Union of Kuwaiti Students (NUKS) Falah Al-Ajmi. During the meeting, Sheikh Ahmad affirmed the importance that the ministry attaches to the contributi­on of students’ unions abroad in spreading awareness to Kuwaiti students regarding the repercussi­ons of the outbreak of coronaviru­s (COVID-19), the ministry said in a press statement. The foreign minister praised the efforts made by the union and its contributi­on in supporting Kuwaiti unions abroad, urging the importance of their cooperatio­n with Kuwaiti diplomatic missions in spreading awareness towards adherence to the instructio­ns issued by the state regarding this health crisis. The meeting was attended by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs Minister Plenipoten­tiary Sami Al-Hamad, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Minister of Foreign Affairs Office Adviser Ahmad Al-Shuraim and a number of senior officials in the ministry.

Sheikh Ahmad on Sunday telephoned his Lebanese counterpar­t Nassif Hitti, in line with instructio­ns by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to express to the Lebanese leadership and people His Highness’ solidarity with Lebanon in the current hard circumstan­ces due to spread of coronaviru­s. The foreign minister relayed His Highness the Amir safety wishes for the brotherly people of Lebanon. Meanwhile, minister Hitti expressed gratitude for this gesture from the State of Kuwait, namely His Highness the Amir and the people, wishing safety for everyone.

In other news, Kuwait’s embassy in Warsaw said that it is following up daily on the condition of Kuwaiti citizens in Poland, including cadet officers. Kuwait’s Ambassador to Poland Khaled Al-Fadhli said that the embassy has formed a special team to follow up on condition of the 106 Kuwaiti nationals currently located in the European country. The mission has booked rooms for the citizens at one of the most luxurious hotels in in the capital Warsaw and the northern city of Gdansk, pending their return home, he clarified. All necessitie­s have been secured for the Kuwaiti citizens in line with instructio­ns by political leadership namely His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah.
