KFA board member submits resignation

-

KUWAIT: Kuwait Football Association board member and chair of the association’s women’s committee Fatima Hayat submitted her resignation “due to the continued failures of our national football team”. She said it is not acceptable for negative results to continue in international and regional events although Kuwait has a good sports history and had qualified for the Asian and World Cup finals.

Hayat said the association lacks vision and a

long-term strategy that can rescue the most popular game in Kuwait from its miserable situation through realistic vision that relies on scientific studies and international expertise. “There is no seriousness to improve the sports system despite our attempts to correct the path and mistakes by recommendations and frank opinions during my membership, but to no avail, with regret,” she said.

Hayat said although there were notable successes in women’s football in particular and women’s sports in general, yet Kuwait sports as a single unit is in dire need for comprehensive evaluation by adopting a scientific method to find the faults, then present solutions for deep-rooted changes that can improve sports in all fields.

Hayat said football tops the table of sports that need comprehensive reform through a realistic strategy that uses young Kuwaiti talent as a launch pad towards a future that fulfills their ambitions. “I find it a must not to continue as member of the board, hoping our sport gets someone who believes that public interest is above all other considerations, and sound planning is what will achieve our youth’s sporting ambitions,” she added.
