UIC’s arm ISC holds training program
Investment Studies Center (ISC), the training arm of Union of Investment Companies (UIC), organized a training program entitled “Fixed Income Portfolio Management Construction”, over a 5-day period, from March 12 to 16, 2023. The training program was opened by Fadwa Darwish - Secretary General of UIC, who shed light on the importance of this program as it aims to develop the work and efficiency of employees who work in financial analysis and managing assets and funds in investment companies and banks.
She added that the importance of this program lies in introducing the tools and techniques of managing fixed income portfolios and how these techniques are applied first to analyze bond portfolios and then to create and manage portfolios.
This training program was provided in cooperation with the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), which is one of the most prominent competent authorities in this field at the global level and is relied upon as a reference by many official authorities at the international level with regard to financial instruments.
The main objective of the program was to understand the technical aspects of analyzing fixed income portfolios and to explain the drivers of their performance and how they affect investment results. During the program, perspectives on future interest rates were introduced, as well as an understanding of the principles of portfolio construction. One of the advantages of this program is that it helps to interpret and explain the performance ratios of fixed income portfolios and how to use derivatives in building the portfolio. In the final section of the training program, the application of ESG factors in establishing a fixed income portfolio was explained.
