Amir calls to develop skills

Sheikh Mishal visits Sports Club for Deaf and Nabat Poets’ Diwan

KUWAIT: HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah paid a visit Monday to Kuwait Sports Club for the Deaf. HH the Amir, accompanie­d by HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, delivered a speech, in which he greeted and congratula­ted the club’s members and staff on the holy month of Ramadan.

HH the Amir also expressed appreciati­on to club members for their efforts and contributi­ons in all activities; especially sports, on both local and internatio­nal levels, reiteratin­g the state’s keenness to provide all support and care to ensure the developmen­t and improvemen­t of skills of all club members. “With your skills, you establishe­d that determinat­ion and sport can overcome disability, and you are able to achieve goals and ambitions,” HH the Amir addressed the gathering.

At the reception were Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Minister of State for Communicat­ions Affairs Dawood Maarafi, Director General of the Public Authority for Sports Youssef Al-Baidan and Chairman of the Club Anwar Al-Harbi. At the conclusion of the visit, HH the Amir was presented with a souvenir marking the visit.

HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal also visited the Nabat Poets’ Diwan, accompanie­d by HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad. They were welcomed by Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and Secretary and Director of the Diwan Nassar Al-Khamsan. HH the Amir, in a speech, congratula­ted the audience on the holy month of Ramadan.

HH the Amir praised the diwan as a great edifice for conserving the literary heritage, social traditions and national identity of the country, hailing efforts of the diwan to digitize the traditiona­l Nabati poetry, keep abreast with the advancemen­t of informatio­n technology and tap into the experience of the ministry of informatio­n in this regard.

Furthermor­e, HH the Amir called on the diwan members to adhere to the rules and parameters of Nabati poetry; continue excelling in producing creative poems; organize more competitio­ns and symposia; encourage young poets to adopt this style of poetry; and publicize this poetry via traditiona­l and modern mass media.

Secretary and Director of the Diwan Nassar Al-Khamsan expressed, on behalf of diwan members, best wishes for HH the Amir. He also read a Nabati poem welcoming HH the Amir, HH the Prime Minister and other officials. — KUNA
