Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi was briefed by the Ministry’s Crisis Management Committee regarding preparations to monitor the current developments in the region and review the procedures followed by the ministry’s departments in this regard. The ministry’s official spokesman, Dr. Bader Al-Enezi, said in a statement to KUNA that the remarks were made during Minister Al-Mutairi’s chair of the committee meeting, Saturday, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Nasser Muhaisen, and the ministry’s senior leaders, where a special emergency plan has been setup and reviewed regarding monitoring developments in the region.

Al-Enezi stressed that the ministry is fully prepared to keep pace with events, take precautionary measures, provide all information to citizens and residents, and follow up on media coverage up to date with accuracy, professionalism, and transparency. The spokesman added that media coverage is currently taking place through bulletins, news summaries, news tape, radio stations, and the ministry’s accounts on social media sites. Al-Enezi pointed out that the ministry has taken all necessary measures and that it will not hesitate to deliver information with complete transparency and accuracy to the Kuwaiti public, calling on everyone to acquire information from its official sources.

Flights on schedule

In a follow-up to a previous press release, Kuwait Airways said that all flights

bound for Kuwait International Airport are on time, except for flights coming from shutdown airports like Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan. The statement added that Kuwait Airways will reschedule those flights when airports in those countries reopen to ensure passenger safety. The statement noted that Kuwait Airways is in contact with relevant authorities and offices outside the country and monitoring developments and updates to take the necessary action.

Kuwaiti students in Jordan

Meanwhile, Kuwait Ambassador to Jordan Hamad Al-Marri said they have contacted universities in Jordan to review the conditions of Kuwaiti students following the temporary closure of Jordanian airspace. Al-Marri informed KUNA that the Kuwait Cultural Office in Jordan has reached out to university administrators to assist Kuwaiti students and reschedule exams only upon providing proof of canceled flight tickets.

Al-Marri reassured parents of students and Kuwaiti citizens in Jordan that the embassy is in frequent communication with Jordanian authorities to stay updated on the latest developments regarding the airspace closure. Earlier, the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority (CARC) announced the temporary closure of Jordan’s airspace to all incoming, outgoing, and transit flights, effective tonight for the next few hours.

GCC security and stability

In another development, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Al-Budaiwi, underlined on Saturday the importance of maintaining regional and global security and stability in light of the recent and accelerating developments in the Middle East. In a press statement, the Secretary-General stressed the role of the international community in supporting peace and stability efforts to avoid any repercussions that might lead to further escalation and urged all concerned parties to commit to maintaining regional and global security and peace.

Al-Budaiwi called on all parties to exercise the utmost restraint to prevent any further escalation that threatens the stability of the region and the safety of its people, stressing the need for all parties to make joint efforts and take the approach of diplomacy as an effective way to settle disputes and ensure the security and stability of the region.
