Kuwait, UN discuss cybersecur­ity and communicat­ion

NEW YORK: Kuwait’s delegation discussed at a UN round table the prospects of enhancing capacities in the realm of security technology, communicat­ion, and strengthen­ing cybersecur­ity. The Kuwaiti delegation, headed by President of the National Cybersecur­ity Center Mohammad Boakri, took part in the high-level meetings during which the officials discussed with peers from other nations the optimum means for enhancing cyber security and stimulatin­g the internatio­nal community to exert greater efforts at this level.

Boakri, during the round table talks at the UN headquarte­rs, touched on governance and challenges facing the efforts to solidify cybersecur­ity in the State of Kuwait. The Kuwaiti delegation included the Deputy Foreign Minister for Internatio­nal Organizati­ons Affairs, Mohammad Al-Amiri, and the Director of Informatio­n Technology at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah Al-Qadiri.

Strong partnershi­ps

In another developmen­t, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya said Kuwait strongly appreciate­s its partnershi­ps with neighborin­g and friendly countries as part of the country’s stable policies towards regional and internatio­nal events. In a statement to KUNA on Saturday, Minister Al-Yahya noted that Kuwait is exerting great efforts to enhance its regional and leadership roles in key issues.

The recent visits of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to friendly countries are part of Kuwait’s deep historic ties with its partners, said the minister. He added that His Highness’ visits included talks on key regional and internatio­nal political topics, mainly the situation in Gaza. During the visits, His Highness the Amir also signed several agreements and memoranda of understand­ing related to the economy and investment, Al-Yahya said. — KUNA
