Experts: it is possible to improve Latvia’s employment situation
«After completing studies, students are not always prepared for work. There is a gap between supply and demand on the labour market. One of the most strategically viable solutions would be involving employers to support education institutions and their students,» as noted by representatives of businesses present in Latvia.
Latvia has a large number of youngsters who have left for foreign countries, job seekers and a serious deficit of workers in businesses. Latvia has an employment situation that can be improved, according to experts from RISEBA University of Business, Arts and Technology.
«Youngsters have good work and career opportunities here, in Latvia,» comments RISEBA rector Irina Senņikova. She says that «youngsters should be provided with an option to meet with potential employers and find out about their potential career options while studying. By creating opportunities to meet, representatives of different companies can influence youngsters’ choice and motivate them while they are still undergoing their studies».
On Friday, 20 April, there will be a special event organized by RISEBA – career day «Time to meet!» During this event, students from all over Latvia will be offered an opportunity to meet with representatives of perspective employers and learn about job opportunities in Latvia. The goal of this event is motivating youngsters to remain in Latvia and form their careers here, BNN was told by the university.
