Es­to­nia vis­ited by 39% more Rus­sian tourists this spring

At ac­com­mo­da­tion es­tab­lish­ments in Es­to­nia in March 2018, five per­cent more do­mes­tic and for­eign trav­ellers have stayed than in the first spring month of 2017, Es­to­nian statis­ti­cians have es­ti­mated.

Sta­tis­tics Es­to­nia wrote on its web­site on Mon­day, May 7, that a to­tal of 239,000 do­mes­tic and for­eign tourists stayed at ac­com­mo­da­tion es­tab­lish­ments in March 2018, in­clud­ing 133,000 for­eign tourists.

As to the na­tion­al­ity of for­eign trav­ellers, 69% of the for­eign tourists ar­rived from Fin­land, Rus­sia (39% more than in March 2017) and Latvia (10% more).

The vast ma­jor­ity of 72% of the for­eign tourists pre­ferred to stay in the ac­com­mo­da­tion es­tab­lish­ments of Tallinn, fol­lowed by eight per­cent of for­eign tourists stay­ing in the ac­com­mo­da­tion es­tab­lish­ments of Pärnu city and five per­cent in the city of Tartu.

As to do­mes­tic tourists, Sta­tis­tics Es­to­nia es­ti­mated that the num­ber of nights spent by do­mes­tic tourists in­creased by 4%, which means that the du­ra­tion of stay of do­mes­tic tourists in ac­com­mo­da­tion es­tab­lish­ments de­creased some­what.
