Šiauliai has plans for a joint discount and service system with Jelgava
Šiauliai municipality plans to adopt a joint discount and service system with Jelgava.
Šiauliai project management office chief Ieva Džaugiene told Lithuanian news agency BNS that a public procurement procedure has commenced for conceptual development of such a system. According to Džaugiene, it will likely be in the form of a map or mobile app that will allow users use discounts and electronic services for residents of both cities.
The project is planned to be realized using municipal and EU funds. It is planned the creation of the database and four-year-long maintenance costs will reach EUR 200,000. Concept development will cost another EUR 45,000.
It is expected the new system becomes accessible in Jelgava and Šiauliai in autumn 2019.
The distance between Jelgava to Šiauliai is approximately 85 km. The two are sister cities since 1960.
