Tens of thousands sing to mark Estonia's restoration of independence
52,772 people have joined a singing event to mark the anniversary of the restoration of Estonian independence, with the majority of the singers singing along on the internet.
Estonian public broadcaster ERR reports on Monday, August 20, that at the Tallinn Song Festival grounds on Sunday, August 19, a concert «The Power of Song» («Laulu võim») was held, where singing for a consecutive 100 minutes to mark the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia took place. Everyone interested, who has access to the internet, was invited to register for singing along.
A website provided lyrics for each song and attracted 21,211 online singers in Harju County, 7,380 singers – in Tartu County, 3,045 – in Pärnu County and 4,498 others from abroad.
