Es­to­nian Pres­i­dent runs in New York City Marathon

Es­to­nian pres­i­dent Ker­sti Kalju­laid has taken part in the New York City Marathon cov­er­ing the 42,195-me­tre dis­tance dur­ing her visit to the U.S.

Ac­cord­ing to the Twit­ter ac­count of the Es­to­nian Pres­i­dent Ker­sti Kalju­laid, on Sun­day, November 4, she par­tic­i­pated in the ma­jor sport­ing event was one of the 50,773 run­ners to reach the fin­ish line. Kalju­laid posted on the mi­cro-blog­ging site that her time has been 04:02:40, which is faster than the aver­age time of all com­peti­tors, which ac­cord­ing to the event’s official web site has been 4:39:07.

«Rather as­ton­ish­ing to be at the fin­ish line with so many happy peo­ple. Thank you, @NYC­marathon, thank you to all the vol­un­teers and thank you to all the peo­ple cheer­ing ev­ery­one else on!» Kailju­laid ex­pressed grat­i­tude on Twit­ter.

The win­ners of the marathon Mary Kei­tany of Kenya and Lelisa De­sisa from Ethiopia fin­ished with at 2:22:48 and 2:05:59 re­spec­tively.
