Unemployment level in Latvia was 6.4% at the end of 2018
At the end of 2018 the registered unemployment level in Latvia was 6.4% of the total number of economically active population, which is 0.2 percentage points more than a month prior and 0.4% less than at the end of 2017, according to information from the State Employment Agency.
At the end of 2018 there were 59,588 unemployed people registered with SEA, which is 2,133 more people than a month prior and 3,533 less than there were at the end of 2017.
The lowest registered unemployment level at the end of 2018 was registered in Riga region – 4.2%, which is 0.1 percentage points less when compared to the end of 2017, whereas the highest unemployment level was registered in Latgale – 14.7%, which is 1.1 percentage points less.
Unemployment level in Zemgale was 6.2% at the end of 2018 (6.5% at the end of 2017). Unemployment in Vidzeme was 6.4% (7.5%), whereas unemployment level in Kurzeme was 7.5% (7.7%). SEA data shows that Riga’s level of registered unemployment at the end of 2018 was 3.9%, which is 0.1 percentage points less than a year prior.
At the end of 2017 the level of registered unemployment was 6.8% of economically active population.
