Two Russian submarines detected near Latvian waters
Two Russian submarines were detected near Latvian waters, according to the information published by the National Armed Forces. On Monday, April 17, 5.5 nautical miles from Latvian territorial waters, two Russian BS Kilo class submarines were detected. As reported, last year Russian military aircraft and ships were spotted near Latvia’s border over 209 times, which is much more than a year ago.
Providing support to strengthening of NATO presence in the eastern part of the alliance, the German Air Force has repeatedly deployed the Deployable Control and Reporting Centre (DCRC) Lielvarde Air Force Base in central Latvia, and it will remain there for the coming three months, the Latvian Defense Ministry reported.
