The S60 is a smart­phone by CAT, as in Cater­pil­lar the con­struc­tion con­struc­tion equip­ment man­u­fac­turer. Crafted from stain­less steel and car­bon fi­bre, it’s in­cred­i­bly ro­bust – built to sur­vive drops onto con­crete from as heigh as 1.8 me­tres and work un­der­wa­ter at depths of up to 5 me­tres. It’s also the first smart­phone to come with a ther­mo­graphic for­ward look­ing in­frared (FLIR) cam­era, which is some­thing more usu­ally as­so­ci­ated with mil­i­tary air­craft. There’s more. The 600 USD phone runs An­droid 6.0 Marsh­mal­low, fea­tures a Snap­dragon 617 pro­ces­sor that’s fast enough to run just about any­thing you want to bring up on the 4.7-inch, 720p screen. There’s 3GB of RAM, 32GB of on­board stor­age and a 3,800 mah bat­tery that’ll al­low you to go two days with­out charg­ing.
