Mad About This

Bespoke - - DUBAI WATCH WEEK -

M.A.D. Gallery is definitely not what you’d expect from a watch boutique, but then again, MB&F is not your typical watch brand. Known for their design-forward Horological Machines, they effectively bridge the gap between time-keeping and art with products like Destination Moon, a rocket-shaped clock. The first of their concept stores was unveiled in 2011 in Geneva, a second emerged in 2014 in Taipei and finally a third followed in Dubai in 2016. Each follows a formula of rotating quirky yet highbrow art exhibitions, including Renaud Marion’s playful photographs of flying cars and retro-futuristic robot sculptures by Parisian artist Bruno Lefèvre-brauer. “Kinetic art is not recognised by traditional galleries,” says the founder of MB&F, Maximillian Büsser. “The point here is absolutely not to sell anything. The point is for to people leave believing that mechanical movements can be art, and also with a smile.”
