A season to remember
Gibran Khalil Gibran once said: “Progress lies not in enhancing what is, but in advancing toward what will be.” With these words in mind, we bring you this — our final issue of 2019.
It has been an exciting and challenging year for Lebanon Traveler; in fact, it’s been an exciting and challenging year for Lebanon. We have witnessed great change in our beloved country, most noticeably a renewed passion and determination to protect and preserve all the precious things that make this great nation unique. There is a beautiful sense of unity, and we feel overwhelmed to be part of it.
In the pages that follow, we’ve encouraged you to discover and even rediscover Lebanon. We’ve put together a huge guide section highlighting many towns, villages and cities — not to mention guesthouses, boutique hotels and ski resorts — where you can enjoy a day trip or weekend escape. You’ll also find a comprehensive list of museums to soak up some culture.
We wandered around the old souks of Tyre, Rachaya, Byblos and Douma, and traveled back in time at the abandoned train stations of Tripoli and Sofar. We then returned to the bustling capital to find the best places to shop, eat and drink, before taking time to talk with some inspiring Lebanese artists about their work and how Lebanon inspires them.
All that remains to say is: thank you. Lebanon Traveler would not exist without the help and support of passionate contributors, writers, photographers and readers. We are infinitely grateful for another successful year and look forward to “advancing toward what will be.”
