Nikolai: A tribute to the Last Tsar
The Fall- Winter 2018- 19 collection is defined by contoured silhouettes, intricately cut fabrics, conceptual volumes, as well as a palette of sky blues, shell pinks, magenta, mints, silvers and golds, inspired by the facades of Russian Palaces, squares, translating the grandeur of the Tsarist times and the frosty winters of Russia. Designers George Azzi and Assaad Osta tell us more about the three key looks.
« This specific piece was inspired by Tchaikovsky’s music especially « The Swan Lake » . The blue tulle as the lake and the origami volume in Magenta Double silk Duchess Satin as the swan. »
« A tribute to the last dynasty of imperial Russia, this dress’ color is inspired from the fiery colors of Moscow’s red square. It includes a cape like train that represents majesty, embroidered with tone on tone silk organza embellishments. »
« Named after the world famous Russian palace and museum, this sculptural dress bears the mint blue green color of its facades, embroidered and embellished with tone on tone frost like sequins. »
