A star-studded festive season features family outings and events across Lebanon
BEIRUT: An extended weekend? Yes please. It’s that time of year again as Eid al-Fitr kicks off Friday. You know what that means: star-studded concerts and other events will be held across the country to ensure that everyone has a good time.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. With the official holiday, citizens make time for family outings and nights out to take advantage of the host of events held on the Fitr weekend.
To make this easier, The Daily Star has put together a list of the top concerts and events.
The bulk of Fitr events are concerts, as artists use the time to meet with fans and perform hit songs. Many Lebanese and Arab artists are performing in Lebanon this year, and concerts are being held on both the second and third days of the holiday.
Saturday July 18: Featuring three talents with differ- ent styles, Wael Jassar, Ayman Zebib and Nader al-Attat will perform at Beirut’s Movenpick. Tickets range from $150 to $400, and include dinner and drinks. For more information call 03-490 490 or 01-869 666.
One of the biggest events this year is being hosted by Le Royal Hotel Dbayyeh, as performances by Lebanese singers Haifa Wehbe and Fares Karam promise audiences a memorable evening. Lebanon’s own Melhem Barakat and Moein Shreif will perform in a highly anticipated concert at the Atlal Plaza-Ghazir Sea Route. Ticket packages are available for $150, $200 or $250, including dinner and drinks. For reservations call 03-622 111 or 09-855 955.
Don’t miss out on a night of dancing featuring Melhem Zein, Majd Fouaani and Ayman Zebib. The three singers will perform at Massabki Hotel in Chtaura. Tickets start at $100 and include a premium bar and Lebanese mezze. Call 08-544 644 or 70-744 433 for reservations.
The Coral Beach Hotel and Resort will host Zein el-Omr, Rwaida Attieh and Hadi Khalil in what promises to be a night of fun. Tickets start at $100, including dinner and an open bar. Call 76-747 447 or 01-859 016.

Sunday July 19: The second concert at Le Royal Hotel Dbayyeh will bring together singers Elissa and Majed el-Mouhandess for a mesmerizing night of romance.

The Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand will play host to a concert featuring Lebanese diva Najwa Karam, charismatic crooner Assi Helani and promising Syrian singer Nassif Zey- toun for a one-of-a-kind evening. From July 18 to Aug. 6, top Lebanese and international singers and musicians will perform at BIEL, on Beirut’s waterfront, as part the venue’s “Beirut Holidays” series.
It all kicks off with Lebanese heartthrob Wael Kfoury on July 18, who will perform both new hits and old favorites.
That concert will be followed by Adel Karam’s “Hayda Adel” standup comedy show on July 20.
Lovers of live music will be treated to a night featuring two prominent pianists, Argentina’s Raul Di Blasio and Lebanon’s Michel Fadel, who will go head to head in a piano duel on July 22.
On July 25, diva Najwa Karam will grace the stage at BIEL. Her performance will be followed by a concert by Italian tenor Alessandro Safina on July 27.
One of the most anticipated performances this year is the longawaited Angus and Julia Stone concert, which will be held on July 28. It will be followed by the star-studded NRJ Music Tour on Aug. 1.
Arabic music lovers will get the chance to enjoy top hits at this year’s Oriental Night, on Aug. 4. Top artists such as Mohammad Assaf and Saad Ramadan will perform.
The “Beirut Holidays” series will conclude with an unforgettable live concert by Lebanon’s own Mashrou’ Leila on Aug. 6.

From July 17 to July 19, the Eid Beirut festival promises a fun time for all. Held on Allenby, Foch and Wegand Streets in Beirut’s Downtown, the festival opens Friday at 6:30 p.m on Abdel Malak Pedestrian Street.
Eid Beirut will feature artists, artisans, food, entertainment, music and a children’s area, and play host to an array of different performances for visitors to enjoy. Don’t miss out on the fun!
Souk Al Yasmine
Summer brings beach outings, warm nights and blossoming flowers to mind. Souk Al Yasmine, in the Beirut Souks, is celebrating this Eid al-Fitr with color. The celebration features flower and plant decorations and gorgeous bouquet arrangements accompanied by live music. The event runs through July 19.
What’s going on in town?
From July 18-22, Zaitunay Bay will host art, design and fashion exhibitions to mark the Eid holiday.
Celebrating summer and easy living, Metn’s Peach Festival will be held in Bikfaya main square from July 17-19.
