HARIRI: SOLIDARITY WITH SAUDI ARABIA IN KHASHOGGI CASE

-

BEIRUT: Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia Sunday as the kingdom faces criticism over the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to a statement from Hariri’s office. “Saudi Arabia is one of the main countries trusted with the stability of the region and the advocacy of Arab causes,” the statement said. Hariri said campaigns targeting the kingdom are a threat to the region’s stability and “drag the region into more negativity.” Khashoggi disappeared Oct. 2 after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to obtain documents for his upcoming marriage. Saudi Arabia has faced international criticism for what some countries have deemed a lack of cooperation in the investigation. The kingdom has denied all accusations in the Khashoggi case. –
