Health Min­istry shut­ters un­li­censed ware­houses

BEIRUT: The Health Min­istry closed two un­li­censed medicine stor­age units in the south­ern coastal city of Si­don Fri­day, a state­ment from the min­istry re­ported. The min­istry re­ceived re­ports of the il­le­gal ware­houses two weeks ago via an in­ves­tiga­tive re­porter from the tele­vi­sion chan­nel Al-Jadeed, who also pro­vided pho­to­graphic ev­i­dence and records of the vi­o­la­tion, the state­ment said. Fol­low­ing a re­sponse from a State Se­cu­rity in­ves­ti­ga­tion Thurs­day, the min­istry sent a team from its phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal in­spec­tion depart­ment to raid the two ware­houses Fri­day morn­ing. The team found that the ware­houses did not pos­sess the nec­es­sary per­mits and or­dered their im­me­di­ate clo­sure. The Health Min­istry’s state­ment said that in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing to screen the drugs found dur­ing the raid. –
