WASHINGTON RE­LEASES $105M IN AID TO ARMY

BEIRUT: Washington re­leased $105 mil­lion in mil­i­tary aid to the Le­banese Army shortly be­fore Thanks­giv­ing, the Associated Press re­ported late Mon­day. “The $105 mil­lion in For­eign Mil­i­tary Fi­nanc­ing funds for the Le­banese Armed Forces was re­leased just be­fore the Thanks­giv­ing hol­i­day and law­mak­ers were no­ti­fied of the step Mon­day, ac­cord­ing to two con­gres­sional staffers and an ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fi­cial,” AP re­ported. Reuters first re­ported that U.S. Pres­i­dent Donald Trump’s ad­min­is­tra­tion was with­hold­ing the se­cu­rity aid for Le­banon on Oct. 31. There was wide­spread push­back from Repub­li­cans and Democrats. –
