Lesotho now doing own Covid-19 testing
Lesotho Covid-19 testing is now in full swing after the National Reference Laboratory finally started conducting tests on June 5.
The director general of health, Dr ‘Nyane Letsie said being able to conduct Covid-19 testing and release their own results is a major breakthrough and a huge success.
Letsie attributed the sudden spike in Covid-19 results to the new dispensation of tests now being done in the country, adding that Basotho should look forward to more results because more tests that will be made.
“Six districts have been affected, which translates to more than half of the 10 districts. This means Lesotho has really changed.” Meanwhile, the Berea district medical officer Dr Mpho Shale, denied allegations that health workers spurn Covid-19 and leave them to their own devices.
“We put on protective clothing when we interact with the patients. It is not true at all that we avoid coming into contact with them.
“When a patient is in need of something, they should talk to the nurses instead of communicating with other people back home, like it has always been done.”
