Chopard

Chopard first pa nered the famous Mille Miglia classic car rally back in 1988. This year, the brand chose to celebrate the 30th anniversary of that pa nership by creating a limited edition 2018 Race Edition chronograph. This year’s version feels more connected to the past than last year’s. Elements such as the engine-turned finishing on the dial can be linked to car dashboards of old and the notched crown faintly resembles the caps of petrol tanks. Even the chronograph pushers are shaped like engine pistons.

We’re also appreciating the reverse panda dial and the rubber strap, which has become a fan-favourite among vintage car enthusiasts. The Mille Miglia 2018 Race Edition is COSC-ce ified as well but will be limited to just 1,000 pieces in steel, and 100 pieces in a variant that sees an 18k rose gold bezel (pictured).

Breguet revamped the Marine in 2017 but took it to another level this year by introducing three new variants. Our favourite was the Breguet Marine Chronograph 5527, signalling the brand’s step into the spo s luxe world. It’s a depa ure from the classic Breguet styling but we appreciate what the brand is trying to do. The wave motif across the dial lends a real sense of the ocean’s movement and is stunning up close. Interestingly, the Roman numerals that adorn the dial have been coated in lume.
