AugustMan (Malaysia) - - Hello - KC YAP EDITOR kc.yap@burda.com.my

on the cover and a compelling line-up of seven distinguished local individuals who best epitomised the magazine’s DNA in an exclusive feature, which included the intellect Dr. Farish Ahmad Noor and former world no. 10 squash star Azlan Iskandar, August Man Malaysia made its nationwide debut in September 2008, establishing itself as the definitive men’s luxury and lifestyle journal. Despite getting off to a rainy start at the launch party, the August Man spirit has never once been dampened.

Over the past decade, the team has continuously pushed the envelope, bringing you a series of cover exclusives, featuring both international and local talents, from rising stars Kellan Lutz, Scott Eastwood, Sebastian Stan and our very own Henry Golding and Remy Ishak, to household names David Gandy, Noah Mills, Zachary Quinto, Daniel Radcliffe and Luke Evans, the latest being this month’s Maroon 5’s leading man, Adam Levine who embodies the cool, effortless essence of Y Eau de Parfum.

Inspired by the modern go-getter and the dynamic energy of current times, August Man Malaysia developed a strong sense of appreciation from early on and launched what has become our most important tradition since 2009, Men of the Year (MOTY), in recognition of the merit of individuals who are making a change in their respective industries, as well as their independent spirit and potential to take it further. To date, our list of honorees includes entrepreneurs Bryan Loo, Hugh Koh and Benjamin Yong; pop icons Joe Flizzow, Altimet and Awal Ashaari; filmmakers Saw Teong Hin, Quek Shio Chuan and Shanjhey Kumar Perumal; good Samaritan Lex Low; and Olympic figure skater Julian Yee. Come December this year, our list will reach precisely 100 as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of MOTY.

In upholding the gentlemanly spirit, we have also placed before us in high regard women of indomitable strength, including world no.1 squash player for nine consecutive years Datuk Nicol Ann David, on our August 2013 cover. Last year, we defied tradition by presenting, for the first time, a MOTY award to a woman we are proud to regard as part of the brethren, namely lawyer and activist Siti Kasim, in honour of her courage and ability to stand her ground and speak out in the face of oppression.

Expanding our content along the way, we also launched our annual watch guide, MVMT, an indepth look at the industry with a lifestyle approach, and, together with our official website and social media platforms in the wake of the Digital Era, The A-List campaign, a series of lifestyle experiences highlighting the August Man tenets of style, substance and success.

Today, as a magazine with a world view, we celebrate our 10th anniversary with an extra special edition inspired by Janet Jackson’s Design of a Decade̶a 10-year retrospect of events, trends, people and innovations that have made an impact on our lives. Before we go on, we would like to extend a big thank you to all our readers, contributors, partners, clients and stakeholders, for joining us in the 10-year-long ride, and to congratulate our founding editorin-chief Rubin Khoo, himself an inspiration to us all, who has moved on to take on greater responsibility as Hubert Burda Media Malaysia’s associate publisher. He remains, however, the embodiment of August Man, both in spirit and in the flesh.

Ladies and gentlemen, our next chapter begins now... Enjoy!
