PAPILLON

AugustMan (Malaysia) - - Agenda -

Starring Charlie Hunnam as Henri “Papillon” Charrière, the biographical drama flick tells the story of a safecracker from the Parisian underworld and his friendship with Louis Dega (Rami Malek), formed in the most unlikely circumstances. A true story that was once translated into film with Steve McQueen as Papillon and Dustin Hoffman as Dega, Charrière and Dega met in the notorious penal colony on Devil’s Island in French Guiana, South America in 1933, when the Frenchman was unjustly incarcerated of murder in the French court. The unlikely alliance was formed when Papillon seeks his freedom, and in exchange for his protection, Dega agrees to help carry out Papillon’s escape, which took place in 1941.

Papillon opens in cinemas on September 13
