AFTER NIXON, Trump is probably the most unpopular US president in recent history. With his term marred by a string of scandals and controversies, Trump has compromised the United States’ standing ‒ and confidence in its leadership ‒ on the international stage. In the wake of these changes, countries and blocs have had to reassess their domestic and foreign policies, while dealing with the uncertainty that comes with having a 72-year-old baby at the helm of the free world.
We may be looking at the beginning of the end. In what was literally a one-two punch for Trump, his former longtime attorney Michael Cohen and one-time campaign chairman Paul Manafort were separately found guilty of eight crimes each, just minutes apart, in two separate trials. The stage is set for a possible impeachment of Trump, with all the far-reaching consequences this entails. AM
