REST AND RELAX

Achieve a heightened state of relaxation and well-being with The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur

HOUSED WITHIN MANDARIN Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, I was fairly stoked when I first got the invite to pay The Spa a visit. “Nice to see you again!” greeted Lee Suk Hui, assistant communications manager of Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, with a warm welcome. There we were outside the establishment, engaged in a conversation while I was still in awe by its warm and comforting atmosphere.

My reservation was at 4pm on a Tuesday and the establishment was barely filled. It was then that I was introduced to Teresa Winkler, director of Spa & Welllness. Delightful and welcoming, Teresa was excited to inform me of the various treatments that they have to offer. Besides that, we also joked about men’s (for the most part) lack of knowledge when it comes to facial and body treatments. The spa assistant offered me a cold towel and a choice of local teas; the Roselle tea ignited my interest and left me wanting for more.

Soon afterwards, the spa assistant escorted me to the private treatment room while explaining the different steps of this sensorial journey.

Unbeknownst to Teresa, I was a tad bit nervous. Like many men, going for massages and facial treatments isn’t something that

I’d usually indulge myself in. I was treated to The Spa’s Face and Body Treatment, whereby the treatment utilises massage techniques that work deep into the muscle tissues with strong and firm strokes. As a matter of fact, the masseuse’s soft pressure strokes on my body soothed me to sleep. Before I knew it, an hour had indulgently passed.

On top of its excellent facial care, the treatment also rejuvenises the skin, leaving it bright, supple, and refreshed. Body treatments are essentially a facial for your whole body, and the treatment succeeds in leaving the skin feeling exquisitely smooth and soft. The idea behind a body treatment is that it is just as important to cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate the skin of your body as it is the skin of your face.

Leaving the spa, not only did I feel relaxed and energised, but also more knowledgeable and aware of the products, their ingredients and the importance of taking care of myself. Despite the fact that Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur is located in the center of the city, none of the noise made it into the relaxing atmosphere that is only complemented by the subtle and soothing color scheme ranging from dark brown to burnt orange.

A true sanctuary for the senses, The

Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur offers guests complete relaxation. The establishment provides a form of serenity like no other, allowing you to slip away from the bustling energy of the busy city and immerse yourself in their sanctuary of wellbeing and relaxation. AM
