THE NEW MICRO Intrecciato Embossed family features contrasting blocks of embossed calf leather in a variety of men’s leather goods: the backpack, the belt bag, the duffle and various totes. Inspired by abstract art, in particular the work of Piet Mondrian, the workmanship develops vertical and horizontal geometric shapes in rich colours, defined by black zig-zag stitching detail or leather trim. The Micro Intrecciato effect is created by heat-embossing the leather with a small-scale woven motif that recalls the brand’s iconic Intrecciato. The leather is then finished with a treatment to add shine and enhance the three-dimensional effect of the texture.

Our favourite is the highly versatile backpack-tote-messenger. It features panels of coloured calfskin, embossed with a woven texture and hand-stitched for a uniquely graphic look. There are two external pockets, both with button closures, while the interior features a flat, padded compartment for high-tech devices and a double smartphone holder. To wear the bag as a backpack, or a messenger, adjust the shoulder strap and tuck the top handles inside the external pockets; to carry it as a tote, tuck the shoulder strap inside the external pockets. The three-in-one bag is available in red and yellow, as well as black and blue.

Another great highlight from the Cruise 2019 collection is a duffle crafted from leggero leather in the new Micro Intrecciato Embossed style. The bag is made with panels of leggero leather, embossed with a woven texture and hand-stitched with black thread for a colour-blocked look made up of mustard, nero, dark leather and deco rose. Ideal for travel, the bag features a lower zipped compartment for high-tech devices, an interior zip pocket, two smartphone pockets and an adjustable nylon shoulder strap.

The most convenient of them all is a roomy, medium-sized tote. Like the duffle, it’s made of panels of leggero leather, embossed in Micro Intrecciato style with a woven texture, and pieced together with black thread for a colour-blocked look. Equipped with an interior zip pocket and two smartphone pockets, the tote comes in Baccara rose, poppy, dark leather, mint and nero, and is perfect for carrying all your day-to-day essentials. AM
