10 YEARS AND OVER 100 MEN OF THE YEAR

LAUNCHED IN OUR December issue of 2009, Men of the Year was conceived to celebrate the success of 10 individuals across different industries, namely Film, Music, TV, Art, Sport, Entrepreneurship, Style, Activism, Theatre and Intellect. With that, we kicked off an annual tradition that has since provided a holistic portrait of the August Man ‒ the modern go-getter equipped with the courage and conviction, purpose and passion, to seize the day; to forge his own way and make his mark; to see his beliefs and ideas through; to challenge and change; and, most importantly, to rise to the occasion, push ahead and go beyond boundaries.

Always evolving with the times, the Men of the Year are also embodiments of the zeitgeist, from embracing change to adopting digital technology. The magazine has also been keeping abreast by updating the award categories from time to time. In our 2018 edition, we celebrate the power of collaboration - the collective force of passionate, creative individuals who have banded together as a company, as partners and co-founders, in pursuit of making a change, or pioneering an approach, while leaving their personal marks. This brings us to a total of 18 recipients across 10 categories.

As 2018 also marks the 10th anniversary of Men of the Year, August Man Malaysia, in collaboration with Johnnie Walker, has taken the celebration one step further by introducing four new exclusive awards - the Johnnie Walker Blue Label 1-in-10,000 Awards. Inspired by the making of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label where only 1 in every 10,000 casks has the required quality and character to produce the exquisite signature taste, the awards are presented to four special individuals from our past 10 years of Men of the Year, each of whom best exemplifies one of the four main virtues of the Blue Label: Rare Craft, Rare Legacy, Rare Character and Keep Walking.
