In 1973, one of the first waterproof leather boots of its kind was introduced by the Abington Shoe Company, which incorporated premium fullgrain nubuck leather, thick rubber lug soles and unprecedented cra smanship. The yellow boot became an instant classic, and prompted the company to changed its name to Timberland, having already made a name when it comes to providing footwear for the hardworking New Englanders, through rugged terrain and wet weather. The boot was never intended to be a fashion icon, but by the mid-1980s, Timberland’s original waterproof boot appeased to the masses throughout Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, before subsequently, in Hong
Kong with the rise of urban hip-hop style in 1985, leading up to its global recognition today. Timberland marked the 45th anniversary of the iconic boot, with a special collection of boots celebrating the heritage of bootmaking: remixes of the iconic yellow boot were rolled out, made with premium materials and expe cra smanship, completed with silhoue es of Timberland’s low-profile chukkas, pull-on Chelsea styles, and Ea hkeepers® versions made with eco-conscious materials. In Malaysia, the “45 Years – Never Missed a Beat” pa y was held in Mid Valley Megamall, where an exclusive travelling showcase of 45 pairs of Timberland’s Iconic Yellow Boot, a ully cra ed through years of collaborations, limited editions and pa nerships were on display around the giant yellow boots. Invited guests and media were also treated to a fashion show featuring some of Timberland’s latest and greatest, ushered down the catwalk to the live beats of DJ Biggie’s set. There were also a bevy of engaging activities happening, which guests could bring home specially cra ed goodies, as well as the chance to win a brand new pair of the Timberland yellow boots, and travel bag wo h over RM2,000.
