A-LISTERS LUXURIATE IN A WHOLE NEW LEVEL OF LEISURE AND ENTERTAINMENT AT RESORTS WORLD GENTING
IN THE FINAL EXCURSION of #MyUrbanHunting with Mercedes-Benz, our 2018 A-Listers rose at the break of dawn and took a leisurely drive to Resorts World Genting for an all-day exploration of its latest offerings. Divided into two groups, the boys went from golfing at Resorts World Awana to dining like a king at luxe food market High Line, to experiencing state-of-the-art audio, visual and motion graphic storytelling at the SkySymphony atrium. Here are the highlights of their outing.
GOLF @ RESORTS WORLD AWANA
Situated at 3,100 feet above sea level in a perpetually cool climate, Resorts World Awana is a golfer’s paradise complete with an 18-hole golf course. The newly improved Ronald-Fream designed championship course presents new tee boxes, repaired bunkers and improved fairways for a comfortable playing experience and is regarded as among the finest in Malaysia. The majestic rainforest spanning some 130 million years around the resort also enables guests to go on a nature trail covering 1.8km of jungle adventure where they will discover straggling oak trees, exotic hornbills and rehabilitated pitcher plants, among other interesting features.
HIGH LINE ROOFTOP MARKET @ SKYAVENUE
The latest mammoth taste experience at Resorts World Genting is the luxe food market concept High Line, located on Level 4 within the vast SkyAvenue complex. Housed within 13,094sqm of space, High Line consists of strongly evocative food offerings served from seven distinct kiosks: Carnivore, made for meat lovers; Jon Bing, which specializes in crispy Shanghainese egg-roll crepes served in paper cones for convenient food on the go; Brooklyn Brewery, a richly diverse world of quality beers; Back in Time, noted for their mastery of well-poured cocktails with local flavours; Seafood Market, equipped with a live seafood counter focusing on the freshest Asian-style seafood preparations; Asian Heroes, conceived to elevate local Malaysian fare such as Nasi Lemak and Pan Mee to luxurious heights with premium ingredients like lobster meat, wagyu beef and king prawns; and Burgers & Shots, designed to send burger fans to seventh heaven.
Guests can mix and match F&B selections,
purchasing from different counters, and laying out their own buffet picnics in an eclectic, communal dining area ‒ al-fresco style at 6,000 ft above sea level. High Line accommodates over 300 diners at any time, with its own private terrace that sits 180 guests.
SKYSYMPHONY @ SKYAVENUE
Located at the atrium of Level 1, SkyAvenue, SkySymphony is the first and largest multimedia winch attraction in Asia, featuring a grand showcase of audio, visual and motion graphic effects. Spellbinding stories are told through a dynamic transformation of 1,000 winch balls suspended from the four-storey high ceiling every hour. Each performance is accompanied by larger-than-life cinematic visuals and original music mix.

With 20 lanes available, Genting Bowl is the perfect indoor space for a little friendly competition between friends and families. Whenever you need a time-out, the bar stools and tables nearby provide a quaint resting spot for you to have a drink and catch your breath.
PARK AVENUE LOUNGE @ SKYAVENUE

In the daytime, the lounge is brightly lit with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows and is just the perfect place to enjoy a cup of afternoon tea and snacks while admiring the magnificent view. It is also a place to enjoy after-dinner drinks and some live piano music. The exclusive venue has
also introduced a high tea menu featuring luxurious sweets, scones and finger sandwiches.
REDTAIL KARAOKE @ SKYAVENUE
Following the overwhelming success of RedTail by Zouk, which has become the hottest hangout at the highland resort, Zouk Genting has introduced RedTail Karaoke, located in the adjacent section, designed to bring out our inner diva and divo. New and fun characters personify each of the six rooms such as Steve the drum-playing gorilla, Eddy the saxophone-playing panda and Joe the break dancing flamingo. Visitors can expect fresh new experiences with different themes across Reggae, K-pop, EDM, Rock and the Classics to explore. All rooms are complete with the latest state-of-theart karaoke equipment and user-friendly touch screen devices, including a retro microphone with a stand that will have you channelling your inner Elvis Presley.
The whopping song list totalling more than 10,000 is constantly updated, ranging from oldies to the latest hits. The rooms are decked out with a high fidelity audio-visual and microphone system to put visitors in the mood to perform.
Just outside, RedTail by Zouk is a bar like no other with its package of exciting games including Giant Beer Pong, Electronic Beer Pong and Giant Jenga as the perfect pre-club spot to gear up for the night. For a perfect drink, look no further as RedTail offers unique concoctions such as Zouk’s signature sour plum shot.
THEME PARK HOTEL
The first hotel that was built at Resorts World Genting, Theme Park Hotel has been newly renovated with its lobby splendidly decked out in massive trees that reach all the way up to the ceiling. There is no checkin counter quite like this one as visitors will encounter a hot air balloon draped in vines that looks like it drifted away and came to find its home in the middle of the forest that is so high it hits the roof.
Miniature grassy slopes cover the hotel lobby where children can be seen gamboling merrily and sliding down the ‘hills’. Parents watching over their frolicking little ones can take a seat in one of the four ‘monkey cups’ to enjoy a tranquil view of the surrounding
rainforest and the Talking Gardens. Every meticulously decorated corner is a selfie opportunity from the bright green slopes to the tiny model of the mountains, a nod to the highlands itself. For the adults, it’s the perfect place to reencounter the nostalgia of their childhood whilst kids will be over-themoon to explore the fun areas of the hotel.
The quirky and playful décor is further expanded on the other areas of the hotel. Directional signs around the hotel are all ‘handwritten’. Line art and cartoons abound around the property. The corridor linking the two wings of the hotel features a floor with a hopscotch pattern on it so kids can indulge in exuberant play. A chic trick with the corridor lighting illuminates the space in a wash of coloured purple light. Room numbers are hand painted on the floor in front of each room that makes searching for your room a fun game for the little ones.
To accommodate group visitors, the hotel has tripled the capacity of the rooms by making the beds the central feature. Most rooms now feature a built in, Tatami-style raised platform on which are two queen sized beds which can comfortably hold four guests in the Quads rooms. A built-up bunk bed above the platform holds another queen-sized mattress, effectively enabling six visitors in a room in the Sixers rooms. The novelty of the bunk beds is bound to have children clamoring to sleep on top, allowing parents a chance to rest without fidgety children in their proximity. There are also Kings rooms for a cosy night for travelling duos.
The raised sleeping platforms also serve as storage spaces. Compartments in the platforms are used to store luggage. Clothes can be hung on knobs around which artists have drawn outlines of closets. The television too is hung on brackets, with artwork around it to make it seem that it is enclosed in a TV cabinet. In lieu of expensive heavy drapes and curtains, artists pitched in to hand draw designs in white paint on blackout roller blinds, resulting in original works of art in every room.
For couples and newly-weds, there are four honeymoon suites in the property which overlooks an uninterrupted panorama of the valley offering stunning views of natural mountain forests, complete with a claw foot tub in the living room. The suites, decked out in shades of purple paired with plush carpeting create the perfect romantic setting which has a different look and feel altogether. Designed around the four fun stages of romance ‒ courtship, proposal, wedding and honeymoon ‒ the suites are all executed as stand-alone units. AM
