Louis Vuitton launches the namesake Staples Edition for the pre-fall/winter 2019 menswear collection developed by artistic director Virgil Abloh, featuring the twisted piece of metal that holds two elements together.

A term for the essential garments and accessorie­s in a wardrobe, the standalone collection refines the essentials that form the foundation of a well-dressed man’s must-haves, defined by the functional contempora­ry wardrobe pieces, elevated through the luxury lens of Louis Vuitton.

Staples Edition by Louis Vuitton is identified through four ways of branding: a metal staple native to office supplies bearing the Louis Vuitton logo is pinned into the material; a triangular tab in classic house leather adapted from bag-making adorns seams; a leather label attached to a carabiner, with a visual manual on how to fold the garment, serves as a tag; and in tailoring, a single button is stitched in the image of the Louis Vuitton logo.

The cuts, techniques and fabricatio­ns are amplified during the creation process of the ultimate wardrobe staple, through the employment of the finest cotton, cashmere, denim and leather, stapled in timeless basic hues of neutral, off-white, taupe, grey, blue and black.

Staples Edition by Louis Vuitton covers the outerwear basics of an overcoat, blazer, taped raincoat and various jacket styles, as well as tailoring for iconic shirt styles, and bottoms, such as the flared split trousers, the cigarette trousers and the denim trousers.

In terms of accessorie­s, a variety of footwear outlines the Staples Edition by Louis Vuitton: in low-top sneakers, work boots and Derby boots. Bags feature the keep-all, the tote bag and backpack ‒ all of which match seamlessly to smaller accessorie­s from the collection, such as the cap, the gloves, the aviator shade, the keyring, the wristband bracelet, the chain bracelet and the chain necklace.
